Authoritative and organized, the Assistant Director is an unsung hero of the entertainment industry. Just ask Morgan Beggs. He got his start on FOX's youthful police procedural "21 Jump Street" in 1989, working alongside a young Johnny Depp. Beggs was credited as second assistant director on three episodes of the series, a title he'd carry into the '90s. He lent his expertise to the mind-bending 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme actioner "Timecop," and served as first assistant director on the Golden Globe-nominated crime comedy "The Commish" that same year. Beggs' career soon took off, and the young AD found work on the set of smal- screen favorites like the paranormal procedural "The X-Files" and James Cameron's cult hit "Dark Angel." Beggs made his directorial debut on a second season episode of the latter series, titled "Fuhgeddaboudit." In 2005, Beggs landed two big-screen gigs. He supported second unit photography as assistant director on the chic Jennifer Garner-led comic book flick "Elektra," and kept the crew of period chiller "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" in line. Beggs joined "Smallville" in 2007, serving as AD on nearly three dozen episodes of the adolescent Superman serial. He also helmed three installments as a full-fledged director.
